Frequently asked questions

The questions we get asked

Including the awkward ones: what is not guaranteed, what we do not do, and what happens if you are refused. A director who discovers the limits after signing is not a satisfied client.

The Fundability Score

Is the Score really free?

Yes. No card details, no commitment, no automated sales follow-up. We ask for an email address so we can send you the detailed PDF report — that is the only thing you give in return.

Do I have to provide documents?

None. Ten questions, about two minutes, no supporting documents, no appointment. The score is calculated on your own declared answers: it is a self-assessment, not an audit. The Score is available in French only.

What happens if my score is poor?

We tell you why, criterion by criterion, and what has to be put right — with the number of points each correction is worth.

And if a blocking point has to be dealt with before any approach, we say so and we sell you nothing. Presenting a file too early burns a bank for nothing.

Can I take the test again?

Yes, and that is exactly what it is for: you put right what is blocking you, you take the test again, and you watch the score move. The number of attempts is simply capped over any one period.

Packages and prices

Why do you publish your prices?

Because a director has the right to know what it costs before picking up the phone. Each price corresponds to a precise scope, described in the comparison table and settled in the engagement letter.

Which package fits my situation?

The Score tells you. The rule is simple:

  • You only want the numbers and you take the file to the funders yourself: Essentielle.
  • One entity, one funding request, a file to build from end to end: Standard.
  • A holding company, an LBO, several entities each to be treated in its own right: Premium.

See the full comparison.

Is the price firm?

Yes. It is settled in the engagement letter before anything starts, together with the content and the timescale. It only moves if you widen the scope — an additional entity, a transaction that changes in nature — and in that case we agree it beforehand, not afterwards.

How many revisions are included?

One for the Essentielle package, three for Standard, five for Premium. A revision means reworking the file after your feedback or a funder’s.

Results and guarantees

Do you guarantee that funding will be obtained?

What we guarantee is the file. Obtaining the money belongs to the funding institution alone, which applies its own risk policy — nobody can honestly promise it to you, and be wary of anyone who does.

That said, a watertight file is not presented in the same conditions as an improvised one. Watertight means something precise:

  • the contribution is rebuilt and counted in full, including what you were not counting;
  • the working capital requirement is funded in the plan, not left to an overdraft;
  • the downside scenario is quantified, not sidestepped;
  • every foreseeable ground for refusal has been dealt with before submission, not after;
  • the file is calibrated for whoever is going to read it, bank or public body;
  • and the memorandum answers the committee’s questions before they are asked.

That is the difference between a file refused upstream, without even being discussed, and a file that reaches the committee. So what we guarantee is precise: your file will be complete, readable and defensible, and no refusal will come down to a missing document or a question the file did not answer.

And if the funding is refused?

A refusal is not the end of the file. The revisions included are there for exactly that: understand the reason, adapt the file, and present it again — to the same funder if the reason could be put right, elsewhere if the institution’s policy was the cause.

The support covers the whole length of the assessment, including those exchanges.

Do you work on files that have already been refused?

Yes, and it is an important part of what we do. A refusal usually means a file was presented before it was ready. That can be put right — provided you have not approached every bank at the same time.

The scope of what we do

Who keeps my books?

You decide. Contrary to a very widespread belief, no law requires a business to entrust its bookkeeping to an accountant: depending on your tax regime and your size, you may perfectly well keep the books yourself or have an employee keep them.

What the law restricts is keeping the books on behalf of others, on a regular and paid basis: that is the exclusive remit of an expert-comptable registered with the Ordre — the French regulated accountancy profession. That is why Novaris does not do it — and you do not have to take our word for it, it is set out in black and white in our terms.

If you wish to delegate, we work with partner experts-comptables, under an engagement letter signed directly with them. If you would rather keep everything in-house, it changes nothing in what we do for you.

How does the funding search work?

You have the choice, and both routes are equal here. Either you approach your banks yourself — many directors already have their contact and that is an asset. Or you go through our partner broker, an intermediary registered with ORIAS.

Either way, we follow the assessment through to the release of the funds, on the same terms and at no extra cost. And either way we receive no commission on the funds obtained: Novaris carries out no intermediation in banking operations. Our fee is the fee for the file; it does not depend on who funds you.

Which funders do you point people towards?

Towards the types of scheme that match your situation: medium-term bank loan, public guarantee, honour loan, leasing, regional grant, working cycle funding. Each situation page sets them out.

We do not, on the other hand, recommend any named institution. It is not our job, and it is also what guarantees you that the file is built for you, not for a partner.

What happens after the funds are released?

The support included in the packages stops when the funds are released. Beyond that, management follow-up is a separate service: after funding.

Timescales and process

What are your timescales?

48 hours at most for Essentielle, ten working days for Standard, twenty-one working days at most for Premium. These times run from receipt of all the information needed, not from signature.

Do I have to travel?

Rarely. The Score is done entirely online. For the paid packages, most of the work is handled by video or phone — which is the case for the majority of files. We work throughout France.

How does an engagement start?

With a scoping discussion, which settles the scope, the timescale and the price. It leads to an engagement letter. Nothing is invoiced before that signature.

Your data and your documents

What do you do with my data?

The Score answers and your contact details are used to produce your report and to follow it up. They are neither sold nor passed on. You have a right of access, rectification and erasure, exercisable at any time.

Are my documents confidential?

Yes. What you send us and the deliverables we produce are covered by the confidentiality set out in the engagement letter. The memorandum is, moreover, explicitly marked: confidential document.

Start by knowing
where you stand

Ten questions, no document to provide, no appointment. A score out of 100 that measures one thing above all: whether your project is feasible — what is blocking it, and what has to be put right before you present yourself.
